Started as a support system for the families of Jawans martyred in the service of the nation, the Vasantharatna Foundation of Arts (VRFA) works with over a 120 wives and children to bring a renewed sense of belonging, purpose, and independence to their lives. VRFA has five programs that empower the spouses and children of servicemen who have given their lives to serving our country.
Our work is three-fold:
Build a more secure and sustainable future for the families of martyrs
Addressing these families’ needs and rights by working with the government
Change common social perceptions to enable re-integration into society
With this approach, we are able to create a strong community of individuals, supporting and uplifting each other.
Our soldiers endanger their lives every single day so that we can dream, grow, and live without having to worry about safety and security. When a soldier is lost, what do we give in return? Is it enough to come together, light candles, and observe a minutes’ silence – or can we do more?
The first step to doing more in understanding the needs of our veer naris. Like their husbands, they have sacrificed their lives and love for our country. In their time of need, we at VRFA feel the strong urge to stand by them, offer a helping hand, and a shoulder to lean on. Our programs are more than “reaching out”, they are about building – from ground up – strong, independent, self-sustaining lives that each and every one of us deserve to live. And standing with them every step of the way.
We, at VRFA, are building a community.
Take a look at our video to know more about who we are, what we do, and how you can help.
A veer nari is so much more than just a martyr’s wife. She does not deserve our pity. She deserves to live a full life, discover her true potential, and make the lives of her loved ones brighter. She can stand independently and fearlessly, and also help others like her do the same.
At the Vasantharatna Foundation for Arts, our mission is to empower the wives of our country’s martyrs through education and the arts by helping them discover their true potential and giving them the necessary skills and support to achieve their goals.
To make this a reality, we have identified several ways to do this:
